What happens when vintage silk ties and woven onto a metal dress form and adorned with a zip tie blanket tunic… protection from the patriarchy.

I’m the 2023-204 Discover Space Invitational Artist

I am excited to share that I am The Delaware Contemporary’s 2023-24 Discover Space Invitational Artist. Workshop and artist talk schedule to follow

Free Your Mind; will be installed in the Discover Space, The Delaware Contemporary accompanied by seasonal programming to drive audience engagement utilizing multiple modalities to interact with this project. Visitors connect and find meaning through active experience.

Free Your Mind is a collection of personal narratives. Participants are invited to share a personal experience with implicit bias to release this story from their personal narrative. Shared statements are later converted from text to speech and played back in the installation environment.  Motion sensors trigger recordings and text projections that intensify as participants move closer toward the blanket of ribbons.

Blackity Black Blanket Installation in Print

I’m tickled pink!

My installation work Blackty Black Blanket will be included in 2023, Surface Design Journal’s Eighth Annual International Exhibition in Print: Lasting Impression selected by Guest Juror Lorna Hamilton-Brown.

Thank you, April Tracy for taking these photos, guest Juror Lorna Hamilton-Brown and Surface Design for the opportunity to share this work.

Blackity Black Blanket, ladders and emotional baggage cart installation

I make my own world…

My social practice builds community through conversation about shared experiences… via story ribbons tied to a net.

Free Your Mind focuses on exposing microaggressions. The community is invited to share a personal experience with bias to release this interaction from their personal narrative.

So far more than 5000 story ribbons have been collected.

The Inventor of The Shopping Cart

Meet Sylvan Goldman, inventor of the shopping cart.

Oklahoma grocery store magnate Sylvan Goldman invented the shopping cart in 1936 — and went on to become a shopping-cart manufacturer and benefactor of many Oklahoma charities and institutions.

Art House Is OPEN!

The construction over at Art House’s new home base on Marin Blvd is finally complete. The first official show to show off the finished digs opens this week.

I’ll be showing Chutes & Ladders, which is most fitting, because Andrea McKenna donated the net I used for this piece when Art House was moving out of their last location…

I can’t wait to experience all the art and see all my Jersey City Art folks at the Opening reception. Other participating artists include Tim Daly, Loura van der Meule, Lisa Ficarelli-Halpern, Troy Jones, Mark Kurdziel and Candy Le Sueur.

Congratulations Art House, welcome home!
