As a member of the National Recording Preservation Board, one of my goals is to help surface the Hip-Hop, R&B, and Dance recordings that have shaped our culture but have not yet received the recognition they deserve in the Library of Congress.
The National Recording Registry belongs to all of us, and public nominations help determine which recordings are considered for preservation. Think about the songs, albums, DJ mixes, live performances, radio broadcasts, and other recordings that changed the culture. What deserves to be remembered?
The deadline for public nominations is October 1, 2026. Everyone is welcome to participate, and individuals may nominate up to 50 recordings.
