I start my studio practice with a lovely brunch; frittata, fruit, cheese, charcuterie, chutney, olives, pickles, banquette and croissant.  Add a double espresso and mango mimosa and then I’m ready to create.

My fine art print “Merging At The Lincoln Tunnel” and large fabric installation “Tag 1” have been accepted to be displayed at BSB Gallery in Trenton NJ. The gallery is housed in a beautiful old bank with soaring ceilings and marble columns.

A group exhibition of interdisciplinary artists’ projects that include a range of work including painting, sculpture, installations, site specific projects, and video projections. “gravity[tional]” is an exhibition that considers the OBJECT or noun definition, as well as the DESCRIPTIVE or adjective definition of the word GRAVITY or GRAVITATIONAL. Valverde makes use of the duality of the word to introduce select works of art made in response to the (adjective) severity or seriousness of a cause, political stance, protest, OR (noun) works of art made intently considering the physical qualities of materials and space, including weight, structure and innate or perceived forces of those materials. Through this exhibition and project space, Valverde brings together selected works by established and emerging artists that present the conceptual theme of “gravity[tional]”.

I Am My Hair: Yarn Wrapping

Join me in my studio to wrap yarn onto cotton rope. Imbue your essence and becoming a part of the rope, as we discussed the trials and tribulations of our daily lives. Finding a common denominator amongst us all, HAIR.

As a woman, I find it is often easier to make my way in the world by keeping my mouth shut. To simply grin and bare it when haters, well-meaning friends or co-workers say or do something insensitive.

With ‘Big Mouth’, I am all of it. The sass, the crass, the erudite and more than that aware. Aware of the language used to quiet me down. To remind me of what is, and most importantly, what isn’t being said.

Big Mouth is a collection of one-sided conversations. As a woman, I find it is often easier to make my way in the world by keeping my mouth shut. To simply grin and bare it when haters, well-meaning friends or co-workers say or do something insensitive.

As a child, my father would say to me, “Better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.” So in keeping my mouth shut, I learned, to be seen, and selectively heard.

With ‘Big Mouth’, I am all of it. The sass, the crass, the erudite and more than that aware. Aware of the language used to quiet me down. To remind me of what is, and most importantly, what isn’t being said.
