Selfie Replicant represents who I would be if I was a replicant in Ridley Scott’s 1982 cult classic, Blade Runner. Capturing the feel of the film it shows how my personality would emerge in the futuristic 2049 dystopia. Representing myself as one of the bioengineered androids found in the film I am revealing a hidden strength brought on by personal struggles within my own life. This selfie captures a side of me that is as potentially vindictive and powerful as it is dark and mysterious.
If you don’t have haters, you are playing small ball in your life. Believe me, this is not fake news.

I ride the 123 bus from Union City NJ to and from Port Authority Bus Terminal Monday through Friday.
The way heads bob up and down walking down to the concourse level makes me feel like a robot marching off to the salt mines.

I found a 48″x48″ red and blue drip paint canvas in the garbage over the holidays and painted over it with layers of gesso, acrylic paint, paper, tissue, glitter, rhinestones, plastic bottle caps and silk petals over the course of two months.Â
She is black, blue and purple with a powerful smart mouth. She resists by persistently defying expectations.

Can you guess which pieces are mine from Art Bender’s 24 hour art making marathon? Yes, the busy 24″x18″ Pink and Yellow mixed media works. They both sold at auction after a fierce bidding war during the silent auction.
Congrats to the winning bidders, participating artists and Art Unbound for another stellar event. Now that I have recovered, I am looking forward to next year.

I’m all about my I Can’t Even, mixed media series right now. I often encounter petty people who are jealous of me and my many passions. I have even been asked to “dim my light” and be conscious of being “Too Big In A Room” so as not to offend less dynamic people in meetings. I can’t help who I am, but to fit in, I must try, except in my art studio where I am free to be me.
This is what happens when Thievery Corporation poster boards, newspaper, pages torn from Children of Dune, handmade Thai and Japanese paper, We Shall Overcome sheet music, tissue paper and acrylic skins… are found stashed away in my studio while embroiled in a Spring cleaning binge as a means of escape from the petty people I can’t avoid in my life.
Each of the five mixed media canvases are 20″ x 16″ x 1″. Three are currently showing at Open Orange Community Gallery in Orange NJ through June 10th. DM me if you are interested.
