In the realm of artistic expression, I find solace in the belief that art is not merely a static entity confined to galleries, canvases, or tapestries. Instead, it is a dynamic force capable of transcending traditional boundaries, sparking conversations, and ultimately fostering social change.
My journey as an artist has led me to embrace a social practice where the aim is clear: to channel the power of art as a tool for mobilization and as a space for critical dialogue.
Art, in its various forms, has the unique ability to captivate hearts, challenge minds, and ignite powerful emotions. It is a universal language that speaks to individuals across cultures and backgrounds. However, my conviction lies in the understanding that art is not the end goal; it is the means to a greater purpose — social change.
In a world marked by complex challenges and evolving societal dynamics, I aim to go beyond the confines of traditional artistic pursuits. By integrating social practice into my artistic journey, I have discovered the incredible potential to engage with communities on a deeper level. Art becomes a bridge, connecting diverse perspectives and providing a platform for unheard voices.

Excellence in Fibers VIII
Excellence in Fibers is an annual juried exhibition from Fiber Art Now magazine. Out of the exhibition’s 40 artists featured in the magazine’s Winter 2023 issue, 16 artists were selected by guest curator Demetri Broxton to be exhibited at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. The artists chosen showcase contemporary innovation through their techniques while working to address the most pressing issues of present-day society. It has been a distinct honor to participate in this show.
Inspiration for a Land Art Basket Project…
I got lots of fast growing Tan Tan trees in the wilds of my property in St Croix… maybe I could make them more interesting and weave them into a structure of some sort. I keep cutting the Tan Tan back and they keep coming back like weeds… Ideas percolating over here.

SDA’s upcoming online conference in 2024, titled “Parallel Play,” aspires to construct a communal environment where the confluence of individual artistic perspectives and collaborative creativity can be thoroughly explored.
Engage with fellow creators to investigate the transformative power of cross-disciplinary interactions, diverse interpretations, and shared discoveries in shaping innovative thought processes.
Immerse yourself in a week-long experience featuring presentations by esteemed speakers Ruth E. Carter and Nnenna Okore, accompanied by over 15 hours of diverse programming.
I will be participating as the conference as Artist in Residence with open studio hours on
