Why The Offering?

People often ask where I find the materials for my work.

The truth is, I don’t really find them anymore.

I wait.

Since moving to St. Croix, my practice has become less about collecting and more about paying attention. I no longer cut, harvest, or search for the perfect material. I work with what the land has already released, fallen palm fronds, weathered branches, seed pods, rope washed ashore. These aren’t resources to be taken. They are gifts already given.

That shift changed everything.

The title The Offering came to me because I realized the exhibition isn’t only about what I make. It’s about exchange.

The land offers its stories, its remnants, its beauty, and its scars. In return, I offer my attention.

I offer my labor.

I offer care.

And through this exhibition, I’m inviting others to make an offering too, not of money or possessions, but of time. Of slowing down long enough to notice something they might have walked past a hundred times before.

For me, an offering is never a transaction. It is an act of gratitude.

It asks nothing in return.

As I finish this body of work, I keep returning to one question that has quietly guided every piece:

What does the land offer, and what do I owe it in return?

I don’t know that I’ll ever have a complete answer.

But perhaps that’s the point.

Perhaps the offering is simply continuing to ask the question.

The Offering: An Invitation to Notice

I am pleased to announce The Offering, my solo exhibition opening November 19, 2026, at Cane Roots Art Gallery in Christiansted, St. Croix.

Since moving to St. Croix, my practice has shifted from searching for materials to waiting for what the landscape is willing to offer. Fallen palm fronds, weathered branches, seed pods, chaney, and rope washed ashore become collaborators—each carrying the marks of wind, salt, drought, and time.

Through sculpture, public programs, and community participation, The Offering asks:

What does the land offer, and what do I owe it in return?

At the center of the exhibition is Becoming, an evolving sculpture created with objects the landscape has released and participants contribute. Nearby, The Witness Tree will gather handwritten responses to the question, “What did you notice?”

A series of guided Field Studies and artist conversations will invite participants to walk, observe, reflect, and consider our relationship with the landscapes of St. Croix.

Current and Upcoming Exhibitions: From Miami to St. Croix

This season, my work moves between Miami, St. Croix, and an international online gathering exploring material, memory, landscape, connection, and the invisible forces that shape our lives.

Miami Fiber Triennial: Weathered Structures

I’m pleased to share that my installation in the Miami Fiber Triennial has been extended through the end of the year.

Presented as part of Threading the City: America250, the exhibition brings together fiber-based works that speak to endurance, transformation, and the stories held within materials.

On view through December 31, 2026
5900 NW 74th Avenue
Miami, Florida 33166

Sponsored by the Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs Office and the Florida Arts and Culture National Endowment for the Arts Grant.

Bridges

Now on view at Cane Roots Art Gallery, Bridges explores connection—between people, places, histories, and ways of seeing.

I’m especially excited to have this exhibition active in St. Croix as I prepare for my upcoming solo show, The Offering, in the same gallery.

July 17–October 16, 2026

Hypnosis: Beyond Science and Magic

On October 17, I will present a live weaving performance during the Hypnosis: Beyond Science and Magic panel at the Bridging the Invisible Conference.

The performance considers weaving as a focused, repetitive, and embodied practice—one capable of shifting attention and creating space for reflection, connection, and transformation.

Live Online Performance: October 17, 2026, 9:00–10:20 a.m. EST
Conference: October 15–17, 2026
Hosted online by UNC Charlotte

The Offering

My solo exhibition, The Offering, explores the evolving relationship between artist, landscape, and community through work created from materials the land has already released.

Fallen palm fronds, weathered sticks, seed pods, chaney, and rope washed ashore become collaborators rather than resources. Each carries the marks of wind, salt, drought, and time.

At the center of the exhibition is a simple question:

What does the land offer, and what do I owe it in return?

Rather than presenting finished artworks alone, The Offering will unfold through sculpture, guided Field Studies, artist talks, and community participation. Visitors are invited not only to view the work, but to practice attention and witness new work emerge through shared acts of noticing.
